International Enrolments

Our Unique International Programs

Hillcrest is different compared to ELICOS Colleges, where students are removed from mainstream English speaking students. At Hillcrest international students are immersed in an English-speaking environment from their very first day. This language saturation strategy improves the student’s listening and speaking skills at an increased rate while immersing students in our local Australian culture.

International Programs on Offer:

    Long-term student visa enrolments

One Semester or one year student visa enrolments

    Short-term cultural visits (1 Term)

The Application Process

1

Application

Complete all sections of the Online International Students Enrolment Form. All application submitted must include:

- A copy of the student's passport
- A copy of the student's visa document (if applicable)
- Copies of recent school reports spanning the last two years (English translation)
- Attach a copy of the English proficiency exam if the student has completed an assessment prior to application
- Medical certificates/Doctor’s reports (if applicable)
- Letter of release (if transferring from another school)

Please ensure all necessary documents are attached to the International Students Enrolment form, as incomplete forms will not be processed.

2

Assessment & Interview Process

Long term students applying for Prep to Yr 12 will be interviewed via ZOOM or face-to-face by the Executive Head of College.

Once the application documents have been assessed and student interview completed, the College will notify the student if they can be accepted for Direct Entry or required to undertake an ELICOS Course or a High School Preparation (HSP) Program prior to beginning mainstream studies.

If an ELICOS Course or HSP is required, Hillcrest will be in direct contact with the nominated provider to monitor the student's progress to ensure the student is on track for entry to mainstream.

3

Offer

Upon acceptance, the student will be issued with a Letter of Offer outlining the initial fees payable (Including homestay fees and OSHC) and a Written Agreement outlining the total estimated fees for the duration of the entire enrolment. The Written Agreement will also include the entry requirement, course details, conditions of enrolment and all relevant policies for the international student.

4

Acceptance & Payment

The Letter of Offer must be signed by both the parent(s) and the student indicating that they have read and agreed with the content. The parent(s) may choose to pay more than 50% of total fees in which case a separate invoice will be issued.

Once the International Department has received the signed Letter of Offer and payment, the student will be issued with a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and a Certificate of Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) for the duration of the enrolment.

5

Visa Application

The student applies for the student visa using the enrolment documents provided by the College. The student or agent must notify the College once the visa is granted.

6

Completing Enrolment

Final arrangements are made before the student's arrival and commencement (including homestay arrangement, airport pick-up or homestay transfer and orientation).

Accommodation

Living with a Parent

Live with a parent or accepted legal guardian.

Legal guardians are biological parents or blood relatives of the student studying.

The parent/guardian MUST be living full-time with the student studying.

Must hold a Guardian Visa 590

Homestay

Live with a Homestay family (This option is for Years 7 - 12 ONLY)

International students in Years 7 - 12 have the option of living with a homestay family.

Students are assigned to English-speaking homestay families who have been carefully selected by the College, ensuring a full immersion experience of Australian culture and way of life.

Hillcrest has a long-standing partnership with a Gold Coast based homestay company. This ensures we place students with caring families in a safe environment.

Each homestay is checked for suitability of facilities and families. The College places the student in a homestay family that best matches their needs to provide the best home environment. A house check is conducted by the homestay company every six months.
